MAPUSA: Sai Avtaar SC Anjuna secured a place in the next round of the Saligao Super Soccer 2025, by defeating BAFF, 1-0, at Vagator ground, on Wednesday.
BAFF had early opportunities, with Anjuna goalkeeper Akash Sirsaiker denying Shaheen Shaikh in the 13th minute and Chandan Govekar shooting over ten minutes later. The first half ended goalless.
The winning goal came in the 42nd minute of the second half, as Santosh Bhulan set up Mohammed Adur to slot home. BAFF pressed for an equalizer, but Sirsaiker made another crucial save in the 49th minute to preserve the 1–0 win.
Akash Sirsaiker of Sai Avtar SC Anjuna was declared man-of-the-match and was presented by Uday Lingudkar, GFA’s executive comitteee member.
