MAPUSA: Geno FC managed to edge past FC Goa in a thrilling 3-2 encounter of the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium, here, on Monday.
Young Gaurs surged ahead in the 42nd minute when a short corner by Sangam found Bryson Pereira on the edge of the box who sent a perfect cross to well positioned Shawn Fernandes, who headed the ball into the goal 1-0.
In the added time of the first session a free-kick by Velito found the rival defenders napping to see Pratik Naik poke the ball into the goal 1-1.
On crossing over in the 49th minute a long ball by Geno FC’s Velito Cruz found Lloyd Cardozo who dribbled past defender Sitroy Carvalho and placed the ball into the goal 2-1. Young Gaurs exerted tremendous pressure in search of the equaliser where a well-executed free-kick by Malsawmtluanga was perfectly handled by substitute Konsam Singh to nod the ball home, 2-2.
When it looked the teams were heading for a draw, Vassim Inamdar sent a long floater to well-positioned Velito Cruz, who placed the ball past the outstretched hands of Young Gaurs goalkeeper 3-2.
