Things came suddenly and shockingly for AAP as, in a big political development, Ramrao Surya Wagh, Vice President of the Aam Aadmi Party’s Goa state unit, resigned from the party’s primary membership and all official posts with immediate effect. The resignation letter, dated December 10, 2025, was formally submitted to state president Adv. Amit Palekar.
Wagh’s exit comes at a politically charged moment as Goa enters the final stretch of preparations for the Zilla Panchayat (ZP) elections. The rural body polls are seen as a key indicator of ground sentiment and a precursor to larger political battles in the state. AAP, which has been attempting to expand its grassroots footprint, had been banking on leaders like Wagh to strengthen its presence in major panchayat clusters.

For the past year, the party has focused on issues such as irregular water supply, poor village roads, garbage mismanagement, and the lack of sustained development in rural pockets — areas where ZP members hold considerable influence. Wagh’s sudden departure now raises questions about whether internal differences, organisational challenges, or poll-related disagreements were brewing beneath the surface.
Although Wagh expressed gratitude towards Palekar, AAP MLAs, volunteers, and national leaders, he did not mention any reason for quitting, leaving space for speculation. Party insiders believe the timing of the resignation , so close to candidate finalisation and campaign rollout, could create gaps in AAP’s rural mobilisation efforts.
