Two Diesel Generators Gutted in Fire at Baga Resort; No Casualties

A fire erupted near a four star hotel in Baga-Arpora, gutting two large diesel generators used by the hotel establishment. The blaze broke out around 11:04 AM on Sunday, suspected to stem from overloading causing a short circuit.

Alerted by the initial call, Pilerne Fire Station sought reinforcements. A skilled team from Mapusa Fire Station, led by firefighter Suraj Shetgaonkar, raced to the scene. Upon arrival, they faced two massive generators fully engulfed in flames, posing a grave threat to adjacent structures.

With crucial assistance from hotel staff, the firefighters mounted a rapid response, deploying water tenders and hoses to douse the inferno. Their swift action contained the fire, averting potential spread to hotels and the busy Baga stretch teeming with tourists.

Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported. The generators suffered extensive damage, with investigations now underway to quantify losses and pinpoint the exact cause.
