Trajano D’Mello to Challenge GCZMA Order Granting Relief to Former Goa CS Puneet Goel Over Aldona Property

Petitioner Trajano D’Mello has said he will challenge an order passed by the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA), which granted relief to former Goa Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel in connection with his property at Aldona.

According to D’Mello, the GCZMA ruled that the site in question does not fall within its jurisdiction, as it has no tidal influence. The authority further observed that the structure on the property existed prior to the notification of the Mangrove Zone and Khazan Buffer in the Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) 2011.

Based on these findings, the GCZMA granted relief to Goel, stating that the property does not attract coastal regulation provisions. However, D’Mello has expressed strong disagreement with the decision and announced his intention to challenge the order before the appropriate forum.

The case has drawn attention amid ongoing debates over coastal regulation enforcement and the protection of ecologically sensitive zones in Goa.
