Calangute Police swiftly rescued a stolen pet dog from Khobra Vaddo near Casa Goana Restaurant, reuniting it with its relieved owner.
The drama unfolded on Friday afternoon around 1:36 pm, when a two-year-old female Lhasa Apso—white in colour—sat innocently on the footpath outside her residence. CCTV footage captured an unidentified man approaching from the Calangute side towards Baga. He played with the dog, fed her something, lifted her casually, and walked away towards Calangute road, leaving the owner devastated.
The owner immediately lodged a complaint, highlighting the clear CCTV evidence. Calangute Police sprang into action, reviewing the footage and launching a targeted investigation. Using tech and local intelligence, officers tracked down the accused, apprehended him promptly, and recovered the unharmed pet.
The owner had appealed to the public for help tracing the dog, but police efficiency made it unnecessary.
