Advocate Pratima Coutinho on Tuesday alleged that Edberg Pereira, who is undergoing treatment at the Goa Medical College (GMC), was moved from his hospital bed onto a stretcher despite being in a critical condition. She said Pereira’s health remains severe and claimed the shift was carried out due to the non-availability of sufficient beds. According to Coutinho, the transfer allegedly took place while Pereira was still lying on the bed, raising concerns over patient handling. She added that his left side has weakened and that he is expected to undergo a third surgery in the coming days. Following the procedure, and after intervention by family members, Pereira was reportedly shifted back to a hospital bed. Pereira was allegedly assaulted earlier and detained by Margao police in October 2025 for alleged anti-social behaviour.
