In a bid to step up surveillance against illegal fishing activities, the Goa Fisheries Department will soon induct two drones into its monitoring operations.
Fisheries Minister Nilkant Halarnkar said the drones will enhance the department’s ability to track and act against unauthorised fishing vessels, including trawlers entering Goa’s waters from neighbouring states. He added that several such boats have already been intercepted recently as part of the state’s intensified crackdown.
The minister said strict enforcement will continue to protect local fishermen’s livelihoods and safeguard marine resources.
