Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Desai on Thursday flagged off a special train to Vailankanni under the state government’s Mukhyamantri Dev Darshan Yatra scheme.
Speaking on the occasion, Desai said the government has received a total sanction of ₹10 crore for the scheme. Of this amount, ₹2 crore has already been utilised to clear pending bills, while the remaining ₹8 crore is available for conducting future yatras.
The minister announced that the next Dev Darshan special train will be operated to Ayodhya. He added that additional bogies would be attached to the train if required, depending on the response from devotees.
Desai noted that the turnout for the Vailankanni yatra was comparatively low this time, attributing it to various factors. He reiterated the government’s commitment to facilitating pilgrimages for devotees through the Dev Darshan Yatra scheme.
