Bone-chilling cold gripped the national capital on Thursday as Delhi experienced its coldest morning of the season, with temperatures plunging across several parts of the city.
Safdarjung, Delhi’s primary weather station, recorded a minimum temperature of 2.9 degrees Celsius, marking the lowest January minimum since 2023. The last time the mercury dipped lower was on January 16, 2023, when a minimum of 1.4 degrees Celsius was recorded.

Other areas of the city also witnessed sharp drops in temperature. Palam reported a minimum of 2.3 degrees Celsius, while Lodhi Road recorded 3.4 degrees Celsius. The Ridge weather station registered a low of 4.5 degrees Celsius, and Ayanagar saw temperatures fall to 2.7 degrees Celsius.
Notably, the minimum temperature at Palam was the lowest recorded at the station since 2010. The second-lowest minimum there was logged on January 7, 2013, when the temperature dipped to 2.6 degrees Celsius, highlighting the severity of the ongoing cold wave conditions in the capital.
