The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is considering inducting Sunetra Pawar, wife of late Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, into the state ministry following his death in a plane crash earlier this week. Senior party leader and state minister Narhari Zirwal said public sentiment strongly favours giving Sunetra Pawar a ministerial role. He added that there is a clear demand from people that she be entrusted with responsibilities in the government. The development comes amid uncertainty over the party’s future and discussions on leadership succession. Senior NCP leaders have reportedly held meetings with Sunetra Pawar as part of internal consultations. Sources also indicated that she may contest from the Baramati seat if elections are announced, marking her formal entry into electoral politics.
