Actor Rajpal Yadav surrendered at Delhi’s Tihar Jail after the Delhi High Court rejected his plea seeking additional time in a cheque-bounce case. The court had earlier directed the actor to surrender by February 4, but he failed to comply with the order, leading to the dismissal of his request for further relief.
Speaking about his financial situation before surrendering, Yadav said he was unable to arrange the required funds, stating, “Mere paas paise nahin hain… aur koi upaay nahin dikhta,” indicating that he had no money and saw no other option.

The case dates back to 2018, when a complaint was filed against Yadav and his wife over the alleged non-repayment of a loan of 5 crore taken from a Delhi-based businessman in 2010 for the actor’s directorial venture Ata Pata Laapata. Despite multiple summons and earlier periods of judicial custody, the repayment was not completed, prompting the court to insist on immediate surrender.
In its order, the High Court emphasised that professional background cannot be grounds for special consideration and reiterated that everyone is equal before the law. Following the directive, Yadav appeared before the Jail Superintendent at Tihar Jail later the same day.
