Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has decided not to attend the House until discussions and a decision are taken on the no-confidence motion moved by Opposition MPs seeking his removal. Sources said the decision is voluntary and not mandated by parliamentary rules.
The motion is likely to be taken up for discussion on the first day of the second part of the Budget Session on March 9, where at least 50 MPs will be required to support the proposal before the Chair allows a formal debate.
