NGOs, leaders join protest against Bandhara project in South Goa

NGOs and political leaders have extended support to residents protesting the proposed bandhara project on the Zuari River near Sanvordem. Demonstrators gathered in large numbers, voicing concerns over environmental impact, livelihoods, and possible displacement. Activists said the agitation will continue until authorities address their demands and provide clarity on the project’s long-term implications. Local representatives participating in the protest urged the government to hold wider consultations with affected communities. Officials are yet to issue a detailed response, even as public opposition across the region continues to grow steadily.
