French President Emmanuel Macron was seen jogging along Mumbai’s iconic Churchgate promenade on Tuesday morning as part of his three-day visit to India. Accompanied by security personnel from both France and India, Macron’s casual run quickly gained traction online after videos surfaced showing him moving through the busy financial capital.
Macron landed in Mumbai shortly after midnight with First Lady Brigitte Macron and was welcomed by senior state leaders. His visit includes participation in the AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, where discussions will centre on emerging technologies and global cooperation in artificial intelligence.

Beyond technology, defence is expected to be high on the agenda. Talks may include a significant expansion of India’s purchase of Rafale fighter aircraft from Dassault Aviation, reinforcing military ties between the two countries. India and France share a strong strategic partnership, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed Macron on social media, expressing confidence that the visit would elevate bilateral relations. The two leaders are scheduled to meet to review progress in cooperation across sectors, including defence, innovation, and economic partnerships. They are also expected to launch the India–France Year of Innovation 2026, aimed at deepening collaboration in research and advanced technologies.
