A huge container truck rammed into the pedestal of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Bicholim, a day ahead of the Shiv Jayanti on February 19. The impact caused major damage to the pedestal and created chaos in the area for some time. Locals were angry since such accidents happen frequently and demanded a permanent solution to the accidents.
