The Goa Forest Department successfully rescued a female juvenile leopard that was trapped in a wire snare in Pillem village, Dharbandora, on Friday. Officials said the animal was located in a private cashew plantation and was safely tranquilised during a joint operation by teams from Ponda and Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary.
The rescue was completed in quick time, and veterinarians confirmed the leopard had not suffered any injuries. After medical examination, the animal was declared fit for release back into the wild. Authorities praised the coordinated effort of the rescue teams and urged the public to report wildlife emergencies promptly to prevent harm to animals in the region.
