Sankalp Amonkar Inaugurates Bust of Lt Narendra Mayekar at Renovated Smarak Sthal in Mormugao

Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar inaugurated the bust of Lt Narendra Mayekar at the newly renovated Smarak Sthal in Sada, developed under MLALAD funds.

The ceremony was held in the presence of the late officer’s family members, defence personnel and several dignitaries, who paid homage to the Kirti Chakra awardee.

Road to Be Named After Kirti Chakra Awardee

On the occasion, Amonkar announced that the road at Sada would be named after Lt Narendra Mayekar in recognition of his bravery and sacrifice for the nation.

He also proposed that the annual homage programme held in memory of the decorated officer be declared an official government function in the coming years to ensure wider participation and continued remembrance.

Tribute to a Brave Son of Goa

The renovated Smarak Sthal is intended to serve as a permanent memorial honouring Lt Mayekar’s service and valour. The event concluded with floral tributes and a call to preserve the legacy of the fallen soldier for future generations.
