Ganesh Gaonkar, Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly, has asked Vijai Sardesai to issue an unconditional apology within 24 hours over the protest incident reported at Mirabag House.
According to the Speaker, the disturbance appeared to have been orchestrated and raised concerns about attempts to disrupt the functioning of the Assembly. Gaonkar claimed that some individuals involved in the protest were seen visiting Sardesai’s office around the same time the demonstration took place.
He further stated that the incident posed a threat to the smooth functioning of the Assembly and the democratic process. The Speaker warned that if Sardesai fails to issue an apology within the stipulated time, further action could be initiated against him.
The development has sparked political debate in Goa, with supporters and critics reacting strongly to the allegations and the Speaker’s warning over the Mirabag protest episode.
