Goa’s rising chess talent Ethan Vaz delivered an impressive performance at the 2025–26 National Under-17 Open Chess Championship held in Ahmedabad, securing the silver medal with an unbeaten score of 9 out of 11.
The 14-year-old International Master showcased remarkable consistency throughout the tournament, finishing without a single loss. His achievement has earned him qualification for the upcoming 2026 World and Asian Youth chess events.
Ethan, who is already a former national junior champion, continues to build on his strong track record. He is now set to represent India in both the Under-18 and Under-20 categories at major global and continental championships.
His latest accomplishment further cements his status as one of the most promising young chess players from Goa and the country.
