Truck operators in Sanvordem have urged the state government for relief measures as iron ore transportation is set to resume in the region. The demand was raised during a meeting of the Sanvordem Truck Owners Association, where members discussed the restart of ore transport operations by Fomento Resources from Kudegali to Sanvordem Junction.
During the meeting, truck owners expressed their readiness to resume operations but highlighted the challenges they continue to face after nearly 15 years of inactivity caused by the prolonged halt in mining.

Association President Valab Dalvi appealed to the government to waive pending fitness renewal charges, noting that many operators are struggling to clear accumulated dues. He pointed out that with only one mine currently operational, financial recovery remains difficult for truck owners.
Dalvi also called on Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to consider a one-time waiver of overdue charges. He emphasised that such a move would provide much-needed relief, help revive the transport sector, and support the livelihoods of local operators dependent on mining-related activities.
