GHRDC Staffer Held With Suspected Ganja at Colvale Jail, Remanded to 2-Day Police Custody

A woman GHRDC staffer was allegedly caught carrying suspected ganja concealed in a thermos while reporting for duty at Colvale Central Jail on Tuesday morning. IRB personnel reportedly intercepted her during routine security checks at the prison.

The thermos, including the container, weighed around 650 grams and allegedly contained suspected ganja. During the inquiry, three mobile phones, three ATM cards, a PAN card and an election card were also reportedly recovered from her locker.

According to police, the woman allegedly fled while the inquiry was underway. Colvale Police subsequently took up the investigation into the incident.

The case is being investigated under PI Sanjeet Kandolkar, under the supervision of Jail Superintendent Suchita Dessai. The accused was produced before the Mapusa JMFC Court and remanded to two days of police custody. Further investigation is underway.
