VASCO: In a decision that will surprise BJP and MGP leaders, the Dabolim block BJP committee has decided not to support the MGP candidate if in case of a alliance between the two parties the seat is set aside for the regional party.
Former Dabolim block BJP committee president and present Secretary of South Goa BJP, Santosh Kerkar, said that in the 2012 Assembly polls, BJP workers from Dabolim constituency were confident that a party candidate would win the seat however it was given to MGP and the regional party lost the seat.
“It is known that Dabolim is a BJP dominated constituency. Though there were good waves in favour of BJP in 2012 assembly polls, still we could not win the seat in 2012 polls because there was an MGP candidate in a BJP dominated constituency. Dabolim Block BJP unit decided to further strengthen the party after the 2012 elections and we are confident we can win the seat. If the seat is given to MGP then we cannot support their candidate,” Kerkar said.
Kerkar also said that recently the Dabolim workers had sent a list of three probable candidates for the seat to the State BJP unit.
