Sources said that substantial public funds have already been spent over the years on transporting wet waste from Margao to the treatment plant. Despite the recurring expenditure, Margao still does not have a dedicated local waste processing facility, making the present system heavily dependent on transportation and financially demanding.
The issue has gained prominence amid continuing challenges faced by municipal authorities in handling the city’s waste efficiently.
