Nine youngsters from Delhi were rescued from the waters off Morjim beach after they were caught in a strong current while swimming, despite repeated warnings from lifesavers to remain within the designated safe zone.
According to reports, the group ventured into deeper waters and gradually drifted away from the shore due to the powerful current. Noticing the situation, Drishti Marine lifesavers immediately launched a coordinated rescue operation.
The rescue team deployed rescue boards, tubes, and a jet ski to reach the stranded swimmers and bring them back to safety. Thanks to the swift response and professional efforts of the lifesavers, all nine individuals were rescued without any injuries.
Authorities reiterated the importance of adhering to beach safety guidelines and following instructions issued by lifesavers, particularly during rough sea conditions. The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers posed by strong currents and the need for tourists to remain vigilant while entering the sea.
Drishti Marine personnel have once again urged beachgoers to swim only in designated areas and to avoid venturing into deeper waters, especially when warned of hazardous conditions.
