Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has claimed that he knows the individual or group responsible for filing a court case against the Mhaje Ghar Scheme and said the identity would be disclosed “at the right time.”
Addressing the issue, Sawant alleged that certain people are attempting to prevent Goans from building their own homes by challenging the government’s flagship housing initiative through legal means.

The Chief Minister defended the Mhaje Ghar Scheme, describing it as a welfare programme aimed at helping eligible families construct or improve their homes, and asserted that efforts to stall its implementation were against the interests of the people of Goa.
Sawant also took aim at opposition legislators, accusing them of adopting contradictory positions on the scheme. He claimed that while several opposition MLAs opposed the legislation related to the scheme during discussions in the Assembly, they later went on to distribute application forms to the public.
The Chief Minister said such actions reflected political inconsistency and reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that the benefits of the Mhaje Ghar Scheme reach deserving beneficiaries without unnecessary obstacles.
His remarks come amid continuing political debate over the implementation of the housing scheme and the legal challenge currently before the court.
