Residents of Pali-Sawantwada and nearby areas in Sattari were left shocked after the body of a 26-year-old man was recovered from a well on Sunday morning.
The deceased, identified as a resident of Gavhalwada-Velgue, was reportedly found floating in the well by locals, who immediately alerted the Valpoi Fire and Emergency Services.
A rescue team reached the spot and retrieved the body using specialised equipment. Following the recovery, Valpoi Police conducted a panchanama and shifted the body to Goa Medical College for a post-mortem examination.
According to preliminary information, investigators are examining the possibility that the death may have been self-inflicted. However, police have clarified that the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be established.
Authorities said further details are expected to emerge after the post-mortem report is received and the ongoing police investigation is completed.
