Garbage dumping by the Sanguem Municipal Council near the cemetery and the guest house of the Tribal Research Centre has reportedly continued despite repeated complaints from residents and media reports highlighting the issue.
According to locals, the dumping activity had temporarily stopped for a couple of days following news coverage but has since resumed, raising fresh concerns over sanitation and public health.
The accumulation of waste has resulted in a foul odour in the area, causing inconvenience to visitors attending the cemetery as well as residents living nearby. The continued dumping has also sparked concerns about environmental pollution and the deteriorating condition of the surroundings.
Residents have urged the municipal administration to immediately halt the practice of disposing of garbage at the site and ensure that waste is transported to a designated disposal facility. They have called on the authorities to take prompt corrective measures to maintain cleanliness and prevent further inconvenience to the public.
