MAPUSA: Mapusa Police have detected a burglary case involving the theft of approximately Rs 65,000 from a stationery shop in Keniwado and arrested a 32-year-old history-sheeter from Shiroda after identifying him through CCTV footage.
The case, registered under Sections 331(4) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, pertains to a burglary at Krishna Station ary and Zerox, at Keniwado, Mapusa, Bardez.
According to the police, unidentified accused broke open the locks and hooks of the shop’s entrance doors and allegedly stole approximately Rs 65,000 belonging to complainant Dineshbhai Valgibhai Prajapati before fleeing the scene.
During the investigation, Mapusa Police, after sustained efforts and analysing CCTV footage, identified the accused as Maizeem D’Cruz (32), a resident of House No. 2194/1, Vazangal, Shiroda, Ponda.
Preliminary verification revealed that D’Cruz is a history-sheeter with criminal antecedents and is allegedly involved in several criminal cases registered at police stations in Ponda and Margao. Police said verification of his involvement in other offences is underway.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Bablo Parab under the supervision of Mapusa PI Navin Dessai SDPO Vishwesh Karpe and the Superintendent of Police, North Goa, Porvorim Harishchandra Madkaikar.
