Addressing the media after the meeting, Lourenço said the government has invested around ₹600 crore in strengthening Goa’s electricity infrastructure, with nearly 80 per cent of the underground cabling work already completed across the state.

He explained that the power disruptions experienced during the initial days of the monsoon were largely caused by heavy rainfall, falling trees and other weather-related technical issues.

The MLA said the Electricity Department received nearly 500 complaints within the first four to five days of the monsoon and that officials worked round the clock to restore power and resolve the issues.

Lourenço assured residents that the department is continuing efforts to improve the reliability of the electricity network and minimise power outages during the rainy season, while monitoring the situation closely in coordination with local authorities.
