Agriculture Dept Issues Dry Spell Advisory for Paddy Farmers

The Goa Directorate of Agriculture has issued an advisory for paddy farmers in view of the ongoing dry spell, urging them to adopt measures to protect their crops. Farmers have been advised to provide protective irrigation wherever possible, postpone transplanting if rainfall remains inadequate, conserve available water and avoid applying fertilisers until sufficient rain is received.

The department has also urged cultivators to remain in contact with their respective Zonal Agriculture Offices for technical guidance and report eligible crop losses under the Shetkari Adhar Nidhi Scheme.
