Dr. Haushela Prakash Sharma, National President of the Bharatiya Rashtriya Mazdoor Sangh, paid a goodwill visit to the ongoing sit-in protest at Karapur and interacted with the agitators. Having arrived directly from Mumbai, Dr. Sharma discussed the issues and demands of the protesters with them.
Speaking to reporters, Dr. Sharma said, “Goa is a state rich in natural beauty; this natural splendor is Goa’s true identity. Under these circumstances, it is not appropriate to bring large-scale projects to Goa that harm the environment. If nature is to be destroyed in the name of development, the government should seriously reconsider such projects.”

Referencing the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, he stated, “Mahatma Gandhi identified Satyagraha as the most effective method to fight against injustice. The peaceful sit-in protest being conducted by the villagers of Karapur for the past 103 days is an excellent example of Satyagraha.”
He further added, “On behalf of the Bharatiya Rashtriya Mazdoor Sangh, we are ready to extend all possible assistance to the protesters.”
Expressing doubts regarding the project, Dr. Sharma remarked, “This project is being set up over a vast area. It seems unlikely that such a large tract of land would be owned by a single individual. Therefore, the possibility of malpractice or irregularities in this transaction cannot be ruled out. The government should conduct a thorough inquiry into the entire matter and resolve this issue as soon as possible,” he told reporters.
