Realme has confirmed that all its future smartphones, along with eligible existing devices receiving software updates, will run on ColorOS, marking a significant shift in its software strategy. The company said the move is aimed at simplifying software development and accelerating the rollout of updates by adopting a unified operating system across its devices.
The transition means Realme UI will gradually be replaced by ColorOS 17. Industry experts note that the change is unlikely to significantly impact users, as Realme UI has long shared its design language and core features with ColorOS. As a result, the migration is expected to be more of a branding change than a complete software overhaul.

The announcement comes amid reports suggesting Realme is restructuring its global operations by reducing its focus on India and strengthening its presence in Central Europe and the Nordic countries, including Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Iceland. However, the company has dismissed concerns about its India operations.
During its H2 2026 Distributor Conference in Hong Kong, Realme reiterated that its business in India remains unchanged. The company said there are no changes to its distribution network, workforce, organisational structure or overall business strategy in the country.
To strengthen its position ahead of the festive season, Realme announced a Rs 10 crore co-marketing investment with retail partners to improve brand visibility and customer engagement. It also unveiled plans to establish 1,800 premium retail zones across India, recruit 2,500 senior sales promoters and launch three new smartphones in the highly competitive Rs 10,000 to Rs 30,000 price segment.
Realme Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Chase Xu said the company remains committed to expanding its retail footprint, strengthening channel partnerships and delivering products that offer greater value to Indian consumers.
