Heavy rainfall triggered fresh flooding in several parts of Curchorem, with blocked drainage channels causing severe waterlogging and disrupting normal life. The incident has once again raised concerns over the absence of a permanent solution to the town’s recurring flooding problem.
Areas including Ambedkar Circle, the vicinity of Amit Patkar’s residence, Vishant Theatre, and several other localities were inundated after rainwater accumulated on roads, creating difficulties for residents and motorists.

Locals expressed frustration over the repeated flooding, saying the issue has persisted despite similar incidents in the past. They alleged that the failure to undertake long-term drainage improvements has left the town vulnerable to waterlogging during heavy rains.
Residents also recalled an earlier flooding episode when leaders of the Goa Forward Party manually cleared blocked drainage channels, allowing the stagnant water to drain away and providing temporary relief. However, they said no lasting measures have since been taken to resolve the underlying problem.
Citizens have urged the authorities to immediately clear clogged drains and implement a comprehensive drainage plan to prevent flooding and minimise disruption during the monsoon season.
