‘I Can Never Go Back’: Indian Professional Explains the Benefits of Fortnightly Paychecks

An Indian professional residing in Australia has sparked a lively discussion across social media after detailing why he strongly prefers receiving his salary every two weeks rather than the traditional once-a-month model.

In a clip uploaded to Instagram, content creator Sarthak Dhingra reflected on Australia’s widespread bi-weekly payment schedule and shared his personal financial experience. Dhingra explained that after receiving his latest paycheck, he realized how accustomed he had become to the frequent payout structure, stating that he could “never go back” to a monthly pay cycle.

While many people assume receiving money more frequently might tempt employees to overspend, Dhingra argued that the system actually promotes better financial discipline. Receiving smaller, regular income streams allows him to organize his budget, allocate funds toward savings, and invest consistently without waiting weeks for the next payday.

“I feel like I am able to manage my money properly,” Dhingra said in the video. “Like, I can save my money, I can invest somewhere, I can manage my expenses.” He acknowledged that while payment schedules vary across different industries, fortnightly salaries remain widely practiced throughout Australia.

To highlight the contrast, Dhingra broke down the math of the two systems. Under a standard monthly arrangement, an employee receives 12 paychecks a year. Under a fortnightly setup, that number doubles to 24 payments annually. Dhingra emphasized that spreading income across 24 payouts offers greater liquidity and flexibility to cover recurring monthly bills, rents, and emergency expenses as they arise.

The video resonated with numerous social media users, many of whom voiced agreement with his assessment. Commenters noted that receiving money every two weeks reduces mid-month financial stress and makes long-term budgeting feel far more manageable.

The viral post reflects an ongoing global debate regarding workplace payroll practices. While monthly pay cycles remain the standard across many countries—including India—more flexible payout structures continue to gain favor among international workforce members seeking greater financial stability and agility.
