CM Pramod Sawant Defends Narendra Sawaikar, Says ‘Termites’ Remark Was Misinterpreted

Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has defended NRI Commissioner and BJP leader Narendra Sawaikar amid the controversy surrounding his social media post, stating that the remarks had no connection with referring to youths as “cockroaches” or “termites.”

Speaking to the media, Dr. Sawant said Sawaikar’s post had been misunderstood and asserted that there was no intention to target young people through the statement.

The Chief Minister also alleged that some individuals tend to interpret comments based on their political affiliations and have a habit of politicising every issue. He maintained that the controversy stemmed from differing political perceptions rather than the actual content of the post.

The clarification comes in the wake of criticism from opposition parties and youth groups over Sawaikar’s controversial social media remarks, which sparked a political row in the state.
