PANJIM: There were 2,476 COVID cases reported in the month of September with an average of 82.5 cases per day. In the same period of 30 days, 45 COVID deaths were reported with an average of 1.5 deaths per day. There were also 2,452 recoveries reported in September with an average of 81.7 persons recovering per day.

On seven different days of September, there were over 100 cases with the highest being reported on September 18, where 123 cases were reported.
The active COVID cases which dropped to 699 on September 16, saw a steady increase again and stood at 856 as on Thursday, September 30, the day that saw the second highest number of cases in September – 113.
The highest number of deaths that occurred in a single day was five and this was reported twice, first on September 5 and the second time on September 28. It is to be noted that in the last seven days, the State has witnessed a total of 17 deaths.
The recovery rate has remained steady though with it being at 97.6 per cent on September 1 and 30 as well.
The daily COVID positivity rate was 1.8 per cent on September 1 and was 2.2 per cent on September 30.
The lowest numbers of cases were reported on September 11 with just 29 cases being reported then while there have been zero deaths reported on seven different days of the month.
Overall, the number of COVID cases and deaths in the month of September is lower as compared to the last three months and far lesser as compared to the peak of the second wave between April and June. The month of May had seen the highest number of cases reported — 64,614.
It may be recalled that there were 2,809 cases and 54 deaths in August and 4,457 cases and 93 deaths in July.
