Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday said that while examination paper leaks initially caused distress among students, some candidates used the additional time created by the disruption to prepare better and improve their performance.
Responding to questions about the ongoing protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over alleged examination paper leaks, Sitharaman said the Central government had taken the issue seriously and assured that those responsible for compromising the integrity of the examinations would face prompt action.

Speaking in an interview, the Finance Minister said several students had shared that although they were initially upset by the paper leaks, they later used the opportunity to strengthen their preparation.
“There are young people who have said that the paper leaks initially hurt them, but they later took advantage of the situation by preparing harder, which helped improve their performance,” she said.
Sitharaman also highlighted the government’s response to the controversy, stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had acted to ensure that those who undermined the sanctity of the examination process would be brought to justice swiftly.
She further noted that the authorities had conducted re-examinations without delay and announced results on time, enabling students to continue with their higher education and admission plans without significant disruption.
