Government Introduces Anti-Paper Leak Bill in Lok Sabha Amid Opposition Protest

The Centre on Monday introduced the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha, seeking to strengthen laws against paper leaks and examination-related malpractice. The Bill was tabled by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh amid continued Opposition protests demanding accountability over the handling of recent student demonstrations.

The proposed legislation follows nationwide protests over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and aims to tighten penalties for unfair practices in public exams. Despite disruptions in the House, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla assured members of a detailed discussion, inviting suggestions from all political parties before further deliberations on the Bill.
