India’s Jadumani Singh produced a commanding display to defeat Pakistan’s Sumama Rehman 5-0 and book his place in the boxing quarterfinals at the Commonwealth Games, before dedicating the victory to the heroes of the Kargil War.
Competing at the SEC Centre in Glasgow on Kargil Vijay Diwas, the Indian Army boxer received loud support from the crowd, with chants of “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and “India, India” echoing around the arena. Jadumani responded with a composed and technically accomplished performance that left little room for his opponent to recover.

The opening round saw both boxers begin cautiously as Jadumani assessed Rehman’s movement and timing. Once he settled into the contest, the Indian found his rhythm with sharp combinations, accurate straight punches and well-timed hooks that repeatedly breached the Pakistani boxer’s defence.
Jadumani’s speed and footwork proved decisive throughout the bout. In the second round, he landed a powerful right hand that forced the referee to administer a standing count to Rehman, putting the Indian firmly in control of the contest.
With a comfortable advantage heading into the final round, Jadumani boxed with confidence, controlling the centre of the ring and inviting his opponent to attack before punishing him with swift counter-punches. His tactical discipline and superior movement ensured he maintained control until the final bell.
The judges unanimously awarded Jadumani a 5-0 victory, sending him into the quarterfinals and leaving him just one win away from securing a Commonwealth Games medal.
After the bout, Jadumani dedicated the victory to the heroes of the Kargil War, saying he wanted to honour their sacrifice and continue winning for India. He also expressed his determination to go all the way in the competition and bring home the gold medal.
Elsewhere, Asian Games bronze medallist Preeti Pawar also progressed to the quarterfinals after defeating Malawi’s Deborah Mtenje by referee stoppage in the second round.
