After the success of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), which culminated in Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, another citizen-led movement is rapidly gaining momentum on Instagram. Calling itself Reservation Hatao Andolan, the campaign advocates ending caste-based reservation and removing caste identity from public life.
The Instagram page has amassed more than 4 million followers and shared 108 posts, with most attracting over a million views. Its bio describes the initiative as one backed by citizens who believe “reform deserves a voice” and carries the slogan: “Educate-Agitate-Organize. All castes are equal; all I want is a great nation. Jai Hind.”

One of the campaign’s most widely shared posts outlines its proposed policy. It argues that if the goal is to eradicate caste-based discrimination, the government should stop requiring or recognising caste identities in everyday public life. The proposal calls for making the public display of caste identity illegal and removing caste declarations from routine government forms, educational admissions and job applications. It summarises its vision as: “One Nation. One Identity. Indian. Remove reservation. Remove casteism.”
The group also insists it is not affiliated with any political party. In another post, it says that while many supporters once expected political parties to reform the reservation system, they now believe the issue should be addressed through public policy rather than party politics.
A video uploaded on July 26 announces the start of peaceful protests. It urges women to express support by commenting “reservation” on posts by the Cockroach Janta Party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while encouraging men to join peaceful demonstrations on the ground.
With its growing online reach and high engagement, Reservation Hatao Andolan is emerging as one of the most talked-about social media campaigns in the wake of the CJP movement, reigniting debate over reservation policies and caste identity in India.
