The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) conducted a surveillance drive across Candolim, Calangute, Baga, Arpora and Anjuna in Bardez on July 27, during which 10 food business establishments were inspected for compliance with food safety regulations.
The inspection covered various categories of food businesses, including restaurants, retail outlets and food vending establishments. Of the 10 units inspected, seven were directed to suspend operations until they comply with the prescribed food safety norms.

According to the FDA, the inspections were carried out based on complaints received through digital platforms as well as inputs gathered from social media.
The department said similar surveillance drives will continue across Goa to ensure adherence to food safety standards. Officials have urged all food business operators to strictly comply with the stipulated regulations, warning that failure to do so could result in the suspension of their licences.
The inspection team comprised Designated Officer Richard Noronha, Food Safety Officers Amit Mandrekar and Lenin Desa, along with staff member Sandip Shelke. The drive was conducted under the guidance of FDA Director Shweta Dessai.
