The High Court has granted an interim stay on the operation and implementation of the land acquisition declaration for properties acquired for the proposed Borim bridge project.
In its order, the court directed that no trees on the acquired land be felled and no construction activity be undertaken without its prior permission until further orders.
While granting interim relief, the High Court observed that any work on the acquired land would require the court’s approval during the pendency of the matter.
Meanwhile, the Goa government has been given the liberty to pursue Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) clearance for the proposed bridge project.
The matter will be taken up for further hearing on a later date.
