Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his remarks regarding students who protested against alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), accusing the government of failing to understand the concerns of students and their families.
In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi said the Prime Minister had not met even a single student or parent affected by the controversy. He alleged that the government remained disconnected from the hardships faced by aspirants despite widespread protests and demands for accountability over the examination process.

Rahul also took exception to the Prime Minister’s comments about “forgiving” students who participated in the protests. He argued that students were not seeking forgiveness but justice, transparency and accountability from the government. According to the Congress leader, those who raised their voices against alleged irregularities were exercising their democratic rights and deserved to be heard rather than criticised.
The Congress MP further claimed that thousands of students had experienced uncertainty and emotional distress due to the controversy surrounding the examination. He urged the Centre to focus on restoring confidence in the country’s examination system instead of making political remarks.
