Tarun Tejpal Moves Supreme Court Against Conviction, 10-Year Jail Term

Former Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal has approached the Supreme Court challenging his conviction and 10-year rigorous imprisonment sentence in a 2013 rape case involving a junior female colleague.

Tejpal has filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) before the Supreme Court against the High Court judgment dated August 6, which convicted him in the case and upheld the prosecution’s allegations.

The High Court sentenced Tejpal to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for the offence.

The Supreme Court plea challenges both the conviction and the sentence imposed by the High Court. Further proceedings in the matter will determine whether the apex court admits the petition and considers his challenge.
