Odisha Man Booked for Depositing 13 Fake ₹500 Notes in Candolim Bank CDM

A man from Odisha residing in Candolim has been booked for allegedly attempting to deposit 13 counterfeit ₹500 notes through a Cash Deposit Machine (CDM) at a private bank branch in Candolim.

The incident reportedly took place on August 19, when the bank’s staff detected the fake currency notes in the machine. Following the discovery, the bank manager lodged a complaint with the Calangute Police.

Police examined CCTV footage from the bank and identified the person allegedly responsible for depositing the counterfeit notes.

A case has since been registered, and further investigation into the incident is being carried out by PSI Yogesh Mandrekar.

Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the counterfeit currency and the source of the notes as part of the ongoing investigation.
