South Goa MP Capt Viriato Fernandes has criticised the Goa government over the Porvorim shooting and called on Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to hand over the Home portfolio to another minister, alleging that the state’s law and order situation has completely failed.
Fernandes said the reported firing of bullets in the open was a serious indication of the deteriorating law and order situation in Goa and questioned the government’s ability to maintain public safety.
The South Goa MP’s remarks came after the firing incident in Porvorim, which has triggered a police investigation and raised concerns over security and policing in the state.
Fernandes said Sawant should relinquish the Home department and entrust it to someone else, arguing that stronger action is needed to address the law and order concerns.
