Goa Govt Withdraws Private Universities Amendment Bill After Opposition Objections

The Goa government has withdrawn the Goa Private Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which was scheduled to be moved by Chief Minister and Education Minister Dr Pramod Sawant in the Assembly. The decision came after Opposition members pointed out errors and raised concerns over provisions in the proposed legislation.The Bill had been listed for consideration in the Assembly. However, following objections from Opposition leaders, the government decided not to proceed with it in its current form.The withdrawal means the proposed amendments will not move forward at this stage, with the government likely to review the legislation before taking any further decision.
