SP North Submits Report To IGP On Porvorim PSI Threatening Restaurant Staff

SP North Harischandra Madkaikar has submitted a report to IGP Goa Police regarding an incident at a Porvorim restaurant, where police personnel were allegedly captured on CCTV abusing and threatening restaurant staff during a dispute over a food bill.

The restaurant owner alleged that one of the personnel objected to the ₹170 price of a naan, calling it excessive. PSI Viraj Sawant, posted at Porvorim Police Station, has since been attached to GRP, Altinho, and departmental action has been initiated against him for alleged misbehaviour with hotel staff.

Goa Police has also suspended Head Clerk Mukund Menkurkar/Lamgaonkar, LDC Pratap Sawant and Constables Gauresh Gawas and Sumesh Mandrekar in separate cases involving alleged misconduct, corruption and service-rule violations. The department said such misconduct will not be tolerated.
