The State of Goa and Crime Branch SP Rahul Gupta have approached the Bombay High Court at Goa, challenging a pre-cognizance order and notice issued by the Panaji JMFC Court in connection with a private criminal complaint filed by activist Kashinath Shetye.
In his complaint, Shetye has accused senior police officers of allegedly failing to perform their duties and protecting subordinate personnel from action.

The petitioners have challenged the JMFC court’s pre-cognizance order and the notice issued in the matter before the High Court.
Hearing the petition, the Bombay High Court at Goa has stayed further proceedings before the JMFC Court and issued notice to Shetye.
The matter will now come up before the High Court for further consideration.
